'Procrastination' is a complex psychological activity, and everyone’s
procrastination is different and has diverse reasons and feelings. This project, a fashion object with treatment function, takes the procrastinator himself as the protagonist, and clearly demonstrates this variety of mental activities in a visualised form. Based on the procrastination of fashion waste in industry, it becomes a major material in the project, resulting in the use of unexpected objects in the work. The design maintains the function of being worn on the body while also able to exist independently as an ‘activity sculpture’. While this work aims to express and amplify the feelings of procrastination in a humorous way, at the same time it brings the objects within this definition of auxiliary work ability for wearers.
‘the very first time in a while…’, Master of Fashion (Design) Graduate Show, 2021.
Presented by RMIT School of Fashion and Textiles and supported by The Capitol. Look Book image at The Capitol, photography by Myles Pedlar.
Based on the metaphor of ‘chasing the limelight’ and ‘holding the perfect pose’ the spectacular stage and in between spaces of the theatre are activated. Models pose, walk, look and linger; who will make it to centre stage? Is this dream happening?
The film and look book concept was conceived and pitched by the students working closely with Ricarda Bigolin and Kate Meakin.
