Lilli McKenzie's work investigates hand weaving as a proposition for a new sustainable fashion practice. Unlike traditional pattern-making or flat-loom weaving, this method uses the body as the loom to weave upon. Weight and tension are used to play with the warp and weft, and structure is used to mimic the loom on the body. Turning discarded t-shirts and material offcuts into yarn and re-weaving them into new forms, the project also uses circular cutting methods to ensure materials are recycled in their entirety.
