afs.RMIT.fashion is a digital showcase of graduates who imagine future commercial contexts, create ethical and sustainable design propositions and use cross-disciplinary design strategies to drive diverse global and competitive emerging design practices.

Julia Mondy, Bachelor of Fashion (Design)(Honours), Bluer than Blue: Fashion as Image

'Bluer than Blue: Fashion as Image' unpacks our emotional attachment to worn clothing in response to a system of fashion obsolescence. A series of images developed from reassembled children's garments, then printed with cyanotype, attempts to embody a photograph through a garment. Through quadrant silhouettes and shades of blue, this project questions traditional conventions of fashion and art to pose questions to the viewer about why we keep garments that serve no practical use.
