Caterina Pelle, Bachelor of Fashion (Design)(Honours), I’D CRY: Identity Crisis

'I'D CRY: Identity Crisis’ explores identity and belonging within the context of Pelle’s Indonesian heritage. The collection's subversion and appropriation of print and smocking techniques creates a warping effect on vintage traditional Indonesian batik fabric, to communicate the sense of dysphoria and discomfort. The collection's outcomes are inspired by her grandparents and archive the memories of her childhood and experience growing up half-Asian in Australia.
