The collection ‘DNA’ is inspired by Šeštokas' Lithuanian heritage, manifested through the use of garments as a vehicle for story-telling and cultural preservation. Influenced by the events of the Lithuanian book smugglers, who risked their lives to ensure their native tongue wouldn’t be erased under occupation. Silhouette, fabrications and prints have been informed by historical references, family archives and Soviet era design. Intended as a wardrobe, the collection imagines a scenario where one is forced, at little notice, to pack up their belongings and leave home to be forever caught in the diaspora.
