'Crafting Authenticity' is a project directed by Indigenous knowledge of environmentally sustainable approaches in design. The making processes of this project explores materiality connections with culture by manipulating natural raffia and bamboo skewers into wrapped forms to communicate a sense of place through craftsmanship. With reference to Indigenous artist Betty Muffler and her line composition that identifies movement of nature through sacred sites of Australian land, the polyester thread line experiments with hyperbolic paraboloid construction and circular silhouettes to consider its potential use of space beneath existing garment silhouettes on the body.
